    Message from ABAI

We want to express our deepest concern for our world-wide community in the midst of the COVID‐19 pandemic. In response to the unprecedented and rapidly developing challenges we all face, ABAI will conduct the 2020 Annual Convention digitally. You will have the opportunity to participate in the largest behavior analysis convention in the world from the comfort of your home or office. With adequate Internet connection, you can easily attend sessions and engage with colleagues, sponsors, and exhibitors from your devices. Presenters will require some basic equipment, like a webcam with an integrated microphone or a webcam and an external microphone, in order to deliver their presentations smoothly.

The convention will follow the same schedule in Eastern Daylight Time and offer the same opportunities available on site. From May 23–25, you will have access to over 300 oral presentations in 16 program areas, including over 70 invited presentations from distinguished behavior analysts and scientists in related disciplines. You can choose among any presentation located in 13 simultaneous virtual rooms. In addition, you will be able to participate in three poster sessions, consisting of more than 650 posters, interact with over 100 exhibitors, and engage in over 40 business meetings and 20 reunions. The ABAI Expo will offer over 100 posters from ABAI chapters, special interest groups, boards, university programs, and other organizations so you can keep abreast of what is happening in our field.

Details and updates about the program will be published on our website as soon as they becomes available. There will be some minor adjustments to the program over the next couple of weeks, which we will announce promptly. In addition, you will be able to participate in over 90 pre‐convention workshops on May 21–22. You can browse and register for these workshops on our website.

Our program offers hundreds of options for continuing education, so you can fulfill CE requirements for the Behavior Analyst Certification Board, the American Psychological Association, the National Association of School Psychologists, and the Qualified Applied Behavior Analysis Credentialing Board.

On Monday, March 23, we will release the room blocks at our Washington, D.C. hotels: the Marriott Marquis, Renaissance, Grand Hyatt, and Westin. Your reservation will be canceled, and your deposit will be reimbursed by the hotel without any penalties or need to contact the hotel. Please allow some time for hotels to manage all reimbursements.

The arrangements for our first cyber convention are complex and involve multiple electronic platforms and a considerable number of staff members, some of whom will be working from other locations. We are most thankful for your patience and for allowing us time to take all precautions to ensure the success of the convention. In the weeks to come, we will be contacting presenters to provide detailed instructions and training to transition smoothly to our online platform. We will also be updating presenters, attendees, exhibitors, sponsors, partners, and the public on a weekly basis.

We hope that you encourage your colleagues to register and join us in this one‐of‐a‐kind gathering. Please stay safe, and we will see you in May in virtual reality.

    Sincerely
    - ABAI Team
