Association for Behavior Analysis International

The Association for Behavior Analysis International® (ABAI) is a nonprofit membership organization with the mission to contribute to the well-being of society by developing, enhancing, and supporting the growth and vitality of the science of behavior analysis through research, education, and practice.

Full Members

Full members of ABAI help direct the association and its support of the field of behavior analysis. Full members nominate and elect the members of the Executive Council; they also vote on organizational business and policy matters.

Full membership in ABAI requires the minimum of a master's degree in psychology, behavior analysis, or a related discipline and demonstration of competence in either the experimental or the applied analysis of behavior.

When applying for Full membership you will be asked to select the category that most closely matches your academic, research, and practicum qualifications and to submit the required documentation. Click here to view the categories of Full membership and the specific documentation required for each.

Full membership applications are reviewed by the Application Review Committee (ARC). When first applying for Full membership, applicants will be classified as Affiliate members until a decision has been made by the ARC. Payment of dues for the membership year is understood as acceptance of Affiliate membership status for that year. Full membership is at the discretion of the ARC and is based on materials submitted as understood and interpreted by the ARC. Incomplete applications will be classified as Affiliate.

In addition to regular Full membership, members can select one of the following:

  • Emeritus pricing for those who are at least 65 (must submit verification).
  • Supporting or Sustaining membership, which provides additional financial support. Supporting and Sustaining members are recognized in the annual convention program book and in Inside Behavior Analysis.

Please note: Renewing Full members do not need to submit the Full membership application upon annual renewal. However, if Full membership has lapsed for over three years, renewing Full members will have to submit the Full membership application to be reviewed by the ARC.
